Famous Nollywood actress and politician, Funke Akindele has revealed why she stayed off Twitter after losing the governorship election in Lagos state.
The multi-talented actress, who was the deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was forced to ditch her political ambition after losing to the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Following her defeat, she erased all political campaign posts from her social media page, leaving only movie promotion posts. She also kept a low profile on Twitter, only occasionally sharing movie content.
However, she posted on her Twitter handle on Thursday to share a lovely video of herself and it sparked a ton of reactions from fans wondering why she left the platform.

Reacting, a follower wrote, “Madam Funke, I sight you… Longest time.. you run away from us abi wot happen?”
Funke, in her response, disclosed that she left Twitter because the platform is toxic and unhealthy due to excessive insults from trolls.
“Dem too dey insult people on this app, so I stay off,” she wrote.
